Donating artwork sales this week to help Steve Niles!

Comic book writer extraordinaire, friend, all-around great fellow, and musician Steve Niles (writer of 30 Days Of Night, Criminal Macabre, co-publisher of Black Mask Studios, and bassist for Gray Matter and 3) needs your help! His house was deeply damaged by floods over the weekend, decades of priceless artwork, books, scripts, and household belongings were destroyed, and he is without flood insurance. Donations are currently being collected via paypal to HelpSteveNiles@gmail.com.

For the rest of the week, I'll be donating most of my artwork sales to help Steve out-- please visit my Etsy site, where there are a few dozen pieces to choose from. Thanks so much, and spread the word!

SPX recap!

Last weekend was my 10th year attending the Small Press Expo, and each year most of us return home inspired and burning to work. It was so good to spend quality time with some of my favorite cartoonist folks, solidify excellent and promising new friendships, and bring the March whirlwind home to such an indie comics hub.

Tearing up some veggie burgers with John Lewis between signings and panels.

SPX doubled its floor space this year, and still felt busier and more crowded than ever!

Quality time with Caitlin McGurk and Garfield at the Billy Ireland Museum of Cartoon Art.

A necessary and delightful afternoon in the Appalachian countryside with Jon Vance and his awesome family.

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists at the Black Cat 20th Anniversary show in DC.

MARCH: BOOK ONE review at Comics Bulletin!

Here's a new review of March: Book One up at Comics Bulletin.

An excerpt:

"Powell has always been a master at emotion, but March is perhaps his greatest work yet, full of vitality and righteousness and passion, as well as terrifying acts of inhumanity that test the will of the activists. Lewis' story is in many ways the ultimate American experience, an examination of how an intense devotion to a dream can often overcome even the most profound obstacles and Powell is the perfect artist to showcase Lewis' journey. Despite being a relatively young white man, Powell appears to have a telepathic link to Lewis, his depictions of the era so expressive they make it remarkably easy to become fully immersed in the work."
