20% off all original artwork until Halloween

If you’re interested in buying any of my original artwork, now’s a great time: everything available at Athenaeum Comic Art is 20% off until the end of October! This includes the pricier March pages as well as Sweet Tooth, Black Hammer, Two Dead, Come Again, Any Empire, The Silence of Our Friends, The Year of the Beasts, and Swallow Me Whole.

After that, we’ll be restocking with some new originals, including some art from Run and Save It For Later, some X-Men pieces, Nib illustrations, and more. Stay tuned!

Original artwork for sale!

If you’re interested in original artwork, I have a few dozen pages for sale via Atheneum Comic Art— this includes pages from most of my pre-2020 books. Listings are being updated currently, and there should be a good sampling of Sweet Tooth and Black Hammer pages added in the next few days as well! All pages are signed and dated by the year in which they were drawn.

(To prevent undue shock, please be aware that my March pages are considerably more expensive than my other work. This has always been the case whenever they’ve been available for sale, and I’m not in a hurry to part with them. Thanks for understanding.)

Original artwork for sale

I’ve teamed up with Sean at Athenaeum Comic Art to begin selling some of my original artwork for the first time since 2015— currently available are some pages from Two Dead, Come Again, Black Hammer, March, Sweet Tooth, The Year of the Beasts, The Silence of Our Friends, Any Empire, Swallow Me Whole, and a few one-off and unpublished pieces.

Athenaeum will be publicly launching these art sales in the coming weeks on their site (and please check out the artwork from the fantastic roster of fellow cartoonist friends!). Until then, if you’re interested please contact Sean at the Athenaeum site for inquiries. Thank you!

SMALL PRESS EXPO this weekend!

This weekend marks the triumphant return of the Small Press Expo (Bethesda North Marriott, 5701 Marinelli Rd., Rockville MD), and my first time back at SPX since 2018!

I’ll be slangin books at booth W74, and will also be on the Top Shelf 25th anniversary panel Sunday at 2:30pm in the White Oak Room.

For the show, all my books will be $20 or less, the MARCH boxed sets are $45, and you can pick any 3 graphic novels for $50. I’ll also have 3 relatively new-ish pandemic-era books which are all still pretty fresh: Two Dead, Save It For Later, and Run.

See you there!

"RUN" is an Eisner Award winner!

We’re all deeply honored for our work on Run to have received this year’s Eisner Award for Best Graphic Memoir— a lot of love and dedication went into helping take John Lewis’ final living work across the finish line. Thanks to everyone who voted for either Run or Save It For Later in the Eisners this year, who came out to a panel, who helped John-Miles Lewis feel at home in the comics community, who attended a Save It For Later, Run, or Two Dead signing, and thanks to everyone at San Diego Comic-Con who did a good job following basic health and masking rules— I was encouraged by the general sense of consideration!

I’m still testing negative as of this morning— if you attended, I urge you to continue testing daily until you hit that sweet 3-day mark.

TWO DEAD book release & video of panel discussion!

IMG_9968.jpeg

Thanks to everyone who came out in Little Rock and Bloomington to make the release of TWO DEAD such a success!

Writer Van Jensen and I had a panel discussion (and “Anatomy of a Scene” walk-through) on book release day, moderated by Jay Jennings as a part of Oxford American’s “South Words” series— here is video of the whole thing.

Thanks to everyone who braved the cold and rain last Saturday to grab books from colorist Erin Tobey and me at Vintage Phoenix Comics— Erin and I have worked on-and-off with each other for almost 20 years, and we’re both proud to’ve been a visual team on this book.

You can order signed/sketched copies of any of my books directly from me here.

TWO DEAD cover reveal and exclusive excerpt!

Two_Dead_Rev_1.jpg

Van Jensen and I are thrilled to unveil the cover of our forthcoming graphic novel Two Dead, which will be released on November 19th by Gallery 13! This cover was a collaboration with graphic designer and friend Chris Ross, who’s worked with me on many of my books over the years.

Over at Paste, check out a few words from Van and I about the book, as well as an exclusive excerpt from the book— this is the first time to show snippets of the finished art, with a color treatment by designer/visual artist/musician Erin Tobey! Erin has also done lots of behind-the-scenes production and design work on my comics, but this is the first time to directly collaborate on the finished art itself, and we’re both so happy with how it’s turned out.

Below are some more panel details from the book— stay tuned for more, and please pre-order the book here at your local comics shop, local indie bookstore, directly from me, or Amazon. Thank you!

IMG_4357.jpg

All right, Come Again is a wrap (and out in July from Top Shelf) and so are my Run pages.

Next up, another book with roots from *before* I started drawing the March trilogy: TWO DEAD, written by my good friend Van Jensen (James Bond: Casino Royale, Cryptocracy, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Flash, Green Lantern, Pinocchio Vampire Slayer) and set in my hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas in 1946.

I have 116 pages penciled and lettered, with another 150 or so to go. This thing is gonna be a beast! Trying hard for a 2019 release from Gallery 13-- stay tuned for updates!

Announced: TWO DEAD from Dark Horse in 2016!

Dark Horse has officially announced Two Dead, a 10-issue series I'm doing with writer Van Jensen (The Flash, Green Lantern Corps, Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer), slated to debut August 2016! It's a trippy, bizarre psychological noir detective tale that's set in my hometown  of Little Rock, Arkansas in 1947, based on true events.

Here's an exclusive interview with Van and I at ComicBook.com.

More info soon!
